Woman’s Weekly reader Heather Mountjoy sent a charming black and white photo to show us that her relatives were fans of Fair Isle in the 1950s.

‘I thought you might like to see a photograph of my dad, Harry Breeze, wearing the Fair Isle slipover which featured in your vintage pattern pull-out recently,’ Heather tells us.

‘In the photograph he is shown with my mum, Pauline Breeze, who knitted the jumper for him.’

Heather’s mum dug her needles out to make the sleeveless top using a pattern featured in our 8 April 1950 issue.

‘Dad passed away several years ago, but mum is 84 and is still reading Woman’s Weekly and still knitting. She thought she recognised the jumper when she saw the pullout! I found this lovely photo of dad, mum (sporting a Fair Isle cardi she also knitted) with her auntie and cousin.’
