September is a busy month for our Cookery Editor, Sue McMahon, because not only will she be showing off her cake decorating skills at Woman’s Weekly Live! but the following week on Tuesday 16th September 2014, she’ll also be demonstrating at our Christmas Cake Decorating Workshop.
There’s a goodie bag for everyone at the Cake Decorating Workshop
The Cake Decorating Workshop is just £99, which includes refreshments on arrival, lunch, a goodie bag (worth £20) plus discounts on anything you buy during the day. Plus you’ll get a fun packed day of cake decorating.
We’ve teamed up with cake decorating manufacturer Knightsbridge PME and the day is held in their school in Enfield, which is a great location – very easy to get to if you’re driving as it’s not far from the M25, and there are also several rail stations within a short distance too.
You may be thinking, ‘Why are we doing Christmas cakes in September?’ On the Woman’s Weekly team we’re already putting together our Christmas features so are busy thinking about festive food, but many of the techniques can be used on other cakes and don’t have to be saved just for Christmas.
‘This is the 2nd of our Cake Decorating Days,‘ says Sue, ‘and, after feedback that you’d like to have more time to master the techniques, you can not only try out some new products/techniques at lunchtime, in the afternoon you’ll get to make a Christmas plaque with Paula MacLeod – Head of School at Knightsbridge PME – and myself.
‘My aim is to try to include something for everyone in my demonstration, so whether you’re a total beginner or an expert, I hope you’ll pick up some useful tips. One of the techniques I’m going to be doing is a stained glass window technique which can be used for scenes or flowers. And on the subject of flowers, I’ll be making some wired poinsettias too, and showing how I get the bright red colour.’
Book now for our Cake Decorating Workshop
Tuesday 16 September is going to be completely different to our previous Cake Decorating Day, so even if you came to that first event, you won’t be seeing the same things again – it’ll be a great hands-on workshop.
