Strictly's Brendan Cole on The Queen, getting nervous and the movies that make him cry
Brendan Cole is best known as one of the professionals on BBC show Strictly Come Dancing.
He’s also been a guest judge on Britain’s Next Top Model, represented the UK at the Eurovision Dance Contest and appeared as a celebrity team captain on What Do Kids Know?
How do you like your tea?
Who would you most like to have a cup of tea with?
The Queen. I’d love to give her a waltz – I think she’d be brilliant at it!
Tell us about your tour, A Night To Remember…
My shows are more ‚’an evening with’ than just a dance show. There’s dance, music and chat, as well as a live band. I want people to come away feeling elated and moved – hence A Night To Remember!
Do you get nervous before a performance?
I’m excitable. I do a little leg shake thing to get the adrenaline going and normally give everyone a hug or a high five.
Have you a favourite style of dance?
I love the waltz. It is beautiful, emotional and graceful – and can leave an audience mesmerised.
What’s the worst costume you’ve danced in?
I’ve had some great outfits but some real shockers as well. Looking back, it’s a wonder I’m as sane as I am given what I’ve worn over the years!
How do you spend your spare time?
To balance out this whole dancing malarkey, I love watching rugby. That, DIY and being with my girls (wife, Zoe, and daughter, Aurelia) keeps me happy.
What would it surprise people to know about you?
I like romcoms and even shed a tear or three at the soppy bits.
