Professional dancer Pashav Kovalev tells us what really makes him happy and confesses what he fears
Pasha Kovalev was propelled to stardom when he was appointed as one of the professionals in Strictly Come Dancing.
The handsome Russian – who’s been taking dance lessons since he was eight – won series 12 of the show with partner Caroline Flack.
How do you like your tea?
I like camomile tea with honey.
Who would you most like to have a cup of tea with?
Jesus. I’m not at all religious, but I think he’s often misunderstood and misinterpreted, so I’d like to ask him a lot of questions.
Tell us about your recent tour, Life Through Dance.
A whole host of brilliant dancers – a real family show with a good bit of drama and romance. And of course, the usual Strictly sparkle, too!
Do you have a favourite dance?
It’s really hard to pick just one. All dances create a complete picture, but I specialise in Latin so I do like to shake it about a bit!
If you weren’t a dancer, what would you be?
Dancing is all I’ve ever wanted to do and I’ve been doing it since I was eight, so I really couldn’t picture doing anything else.
What makes you happy?
Doing what I enjoy. If I have good food, good company and beautiful music, I’ll be content.
What are you scared of?
Heights and needles.
How would you spend an ideal weekend?
Weekend? What’s that? When I’m working, that’s often the busiest time. But if I can, I like to be by myself in a quiet environment.
