A warm, stylish and fabulously feline design
When it comes to keeping warm, hats are essential.
Instead of scouring the stores to find the perfect blue and burgundy beanie or bobble-topped Fair Isle design for a little one this season, we suggest knitting them a woolly warmer yourself.
Getting stuck into a personal project is a wonderful way to while away the hours on a quiet afternoon.
If, like us, you’re an animal lover, you’ll find our cat hat knitting pattern impossible to resist.
Cream with thoughtfully designed pointed pink ears, it also features a black nose and pristine whiskers.
Even when there’s a chill in the air, this cute accessory will certainly lift a child’s mood and put a smile on their face.
It’ll also add a fun feline finish to any cold-climate ensemble.

Woman’s Weekly reader Maureen Turner is obviously a fan of seriously sweet knits too.
She got her needles out to make a pair of puppy dog head warmers to ensure her daughter and grandson stay cosy during the winter.
‘Your puppy dog hat pattern came just in time for the snow. I made one for my grandson, Jose, and then his mother wanted one, so another evening knitting and they had one each,’ she told us after spotting the charming pattern in one of our issues.
‘As we had bad snow I could not get out to buy chunky wool so used two strands of double knit instead. It worked a treat as you can see!’
